You can still buy fresh raspberries by mid-August, but you can't usually pick your own. So when we happened "accidentally" upon a farm that was advertising pick your own, we jumped at the opportunity. This farm offered both raspberry and blueberry picking.
We arrived at the pick your own section of the raspberries to find little left. But sometimes little can be more than enough. They were small, but boy were they good.
While the raspberry bushes were nearly picked over, the blueberry bushes were just getting started. The blueberries were abundant with many more to come.
While we ate more than our fair share of these fresh berries, I wanted to do something special with them. I was told I couldn't use them to make a pie, because they would be all gone. So I had to find something that would allow us to still have fresh berries to eat. Mixed Berry French Toast seemed like a good option.
